Immediate past Chairman of Warri South Local Government Transition Committee, Dr. Augustine Uroye says he will not accept Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s alleged imposition of Comrade Michael Tidi as the next Chairman of Warri South Local Government.
An apparently miffed Dr. Uroye who is a leading contender in the Warri South Chairmanship race ahead of the fast-approaching Delta State Local Government election, told Fresh Angle International on phone in an exclusive chat at exactly 2:15pm Thursday September 14 that Dr. Okowa’s insistence on Michael Tidi amounts to injustice and negates fairplay.
According to him, the report of a six-man committee set up by Dr. Okowa to review the April 26, 2017 Warri South Constituency 1 Bye-Election attests to the fact that imposition of candidate is tearing the PDP to shreds amid the emergence of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
He stressed that the standing gentleman agreement which ceded the Chairmanship position to the riverine area of Warri South Local Government in the forthcoming poll should be respected, saying Esisi ward in Warri urban can not produce the local government Chairman for 12 years to the detriment of the riverine/rural areas.
Strong indications emerged that Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa had settled for Michael Tidi as the next Chairman of Warri South Local Government ahead of the forthcoming Delta State Local Government election.
Dr. Okowa allegedly told Chief Joseph Otumara, Delta State Commissioner of Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, Hon. Shola Daibo of Delta State House of Assembly, Political Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Omimi Esquire and Hon. Griftson Omatsuli at a meeting yesterday, September 13 in Asaba that they should go and work for Michael Tidi.
The Governor who purportedly told the Chief Otumara led delegation that he won't repeat the scenario of the Warri South Constituency 1 Bye-Election where unpopular candidate was fielded, thus leading to dismal outcome, reportedly refused the choice of Hon. Griftson Omatsuli that the Otumara delegation presented to him for Warri South Chairmanship.
Fresh Angle International can report that Michael Tidi enjoys the strong backing of Hon. Michael Diden who represents Warri North Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly.
