A former Supervisory Councilor for Culture and Tourism in Warri South Local Government Council, Hon. David Eyitemi Oki has brushed aside speculations of Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa endorsing Comrade Michael Tidi as PDP candidate for Warri South in the forthcoming Delta State Local Government election, stressing that Dr. Okowa could not have imposed anyone.
The ex-lawmaker who made the declaration Sunday September 17 at the popular Okere Market Square, Warri in the presence of a massive crowd, averred that he is running for the Warri South plum job and those spreading rumour of Governor Okowa endorsing any candidate for the position when the party primary has not been held, should “desist from doing so, because Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa won’t impose anybody as candidate, haven started his political career as a Councilor, later Council Chairman, Commissioner to SSG and Senator, before emerging the current Governor of Delta State”.
Hon. Oki who promised to work towards the actualization of a Warri University in the Oil City of Warri “as the oldest province in Delta State”, if given the mandate as the next Chairman of Warri South Local Government, averred that as Councilor in Warri South Legislative Arm, he initiated the construction of the now-popular King George Centenary Hall at the Warri South Council Sub Secretariat.
While promising to do everything possible to ensure that Delta Ports Warri becomes fully functional if he becomes the next Warri South Council Boss, Hon. Oki disclosed that his agenda will primarily focus on peace and security as well as empowerment for the people.
The PDP Chieftain cum legal practitioner urged all aspirants to the Warri South Chairmanship seat to be prepaed for the party primaries in-line with the PDP philosophy of level playing field for contestants.
