Buhari Declarations: Varsity Don slams APC leaders

A University Don and Executive Director of Campaign for Development and Democracy in Bayelsa, CDDB, Dr. Conrade Ekiyor Welson, has yesterday April 11 slammed leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC for presenting Mr. Muhammadu Buhari to contest for the 2019 Presidential election, describing the move “as wicked, selfish and stupid to advance their political reasons”.

Conrade Welson made the statement in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State while fielding questions from journalists, “it is sad that Buhari decided to declare to contest for another tenure considering the level of political development in the country. What makes President Muhammadu Buhari stands out in comity of contestants is the integrity and honesty he aptly displayed”.

According to him, APC as a party did not present Mr. Muhammadu Buhari because they love him, but they presented him because they want to win an election that will make them have access to power and to remain in power, adding that they are scared of losing forthcoming general elections to the opposition.

Dr. Welson stated that Nigeria need somebody that understands philosophy, sociology, economics and politics as well as relate with people, creating enabling environment for development to strive in the country, noting that Nigeria economy is going backward every day.

Although, he commended APC led federal government in bringing agriculture to the front burner, making oil less competitive and taxation more competitive, adding that Nigeria need technocrat that consolidate on the achievements of Mr. Buhari and builds on a strong and vibrant economy. Agriculture has contributed more than 20 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while oil and gas sector produce less than 20 percent to Nigeria GDP, adding that Nigeria is becoming a productive country.

In the fight against corruption and Fulani herdsmen killings, Dr. Welson opined, “Buhari led administration has achieved tremendously in the fight against corruption, Buhari selling point is being straightforward in the fight against corruption, there are serious forms of corrupt practices going on in his administration”.

He noted that political gladiators are politicizing the activities of Fulani herdsmen killings in Benue State and its environs, adding that Benue government is fighting a political battle in herdsmen killings, accusing the military and other security agencies of insincerity and untruthfulness displayed in the fight against insurgency in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
