Cooperate With De-Flooding Committee, Tidi Enjoins Warri South Residents

Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Michael Tidi has enjoined residents of Warri and other parts of Warri South Local Government Area to cooperate with the committee set up by the state government to study the extent of flooding in Effurun /Warri and environs.

The Committee which has Delta State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye as chairman, the State Commissioner for Environment, Chief John Nani as member and some prominent key players in Warri South as members, is also saddled with the responsibilities of identifying the causes of the flood as well as its natural drainage routes and linkages.

Dr. Tidi in a statement after receiving members of the committee at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri, stressed that residents of Warri, particularly owners and developers of real estates should adhere strictly to the dictates of the de-flooding committee which is membered by seasoned professionals.

The Warri South Council Boss noted that the advice became necessary, considering the perennial flooding challenge in parts of Warri, the persistent rainfall experienced so far vis-a-vis warnings by NIMET of increased wet weather conditions.

The committee which has not later than three months to submit its report, is to make recommendations to the state government on long and short term measures required to solve the problem of flooding in Warri /Effurun and environs.
