The Unu-Amua (Spokesman) and Chairman of Jeddo Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Solomon Bayagbon says they reconstructed the “Old Jeddo Market” which is the oldest market in Jeddo due to the speedy growth and socio-economic development of the community.
While disclosing that the crisis between Ijaw and Itsekiri some years ago led to the closure of the market, which was in existence “centuries ago’’, Comrade Bayagbon noted that the reconstructed “Old Jeddo Market” now has 30 open stores with space for expansion.
He extoled Delta State Commissioner for Works and former Transition Committee Chairman of Okpe Local Government Local Government Area, Chief James Augoye for assisting in the re-building of the market.
The Community Spokesman explained that the reconstructed “Old Jeddo Market” will operate daily and have special market day every 8 days, where everybody trading at “Jeddo Market 2” will move their goods and services to the “Old Jeddo Market”, which has now become the major market in the fast growing Okpe Town.

While commissioning the market, President-General of Okpe Union World-Wide and Duke of Ughoton Community, Chief Robert Onome, stressed the need for proper maintenance of the market and advised that a committee be set up to properly manage the affairs of the market, just as he cautioned against encroachment of the remaining space meant for expansion of the market.
