The Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, has threatened to flush out unworthy students from the institution, just as the school has matriculated 7,658 students.
DELSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Eric A. Arubayi made this threat during the matriculation ceremony held Saturday March 23 at the University premises, Abraka.
He warned that any student found engaging in cult activities will be shown the way out as cultism on the campuses of the University remains banned. "It has been discovered that some registered associations have been infiltrated by cultists who use such bodies as a cover for paying vendetta against their perceived opponents. Our searchlights are, therefore, being beamed on these organisations with the aim of flushing out the miscreants," he added.
Professor Arubayi while congratulating all the matriculating students said they were very lucky to have been picked by the school for this year's academic session.
Prof. Arubayi urged the matriculating students to shun all forms of vices that will jeopardize the completion of their studies and the attainment of their life dreams.
He said; "as a student you should comport yourselves diligently, observe the rules and regulations of this University and refrain from activities which are inimical to the growth of intellectualism."
He said that the school will remain focused in its pursuit of academic excellent, assuring that the school will pursue the prudent management of the resources of the university.
He also enjoined the students to emulate the noble path and conduct themselves in a way that will promote the good of the University, pointing out that out of 49, 000 students that applied for admission for the year, only 7,658 were duly cleared and registered.
The DELSU V.C. revealed that the University has continued to do well in the National Universities Commission's accreditation exercise, noting that as a result of this, the University currently has 93% accreditation status for all her undergraduate programmes.
He thanked the Delta State Government under the administration of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for the giant stride he has taken for the overall development of the institution.
