Ilaje Regional Development Committee,(IRDC), a community-based organization established under the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU), between the Ilaje Communities, the Ondo State Government and the NNPC/Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) Joint Venture, wishes to inform the public of its 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) which comes up on Wednesday, October 31,2018 at the Oba Makin Osangangan Hall, Ode - Ugbo, Ondo State.
“The AGM is in keeping with the Transparency and Accountability principle embedded in the GMoU. It is an opportunity for the RDC to open its books for the relevant stakeholders to be abreast of its activities and accomplishments,” Said Prince Adekunle Omomowo, Chairman Ilaje RDC.
Esimaje Brikinn, CNL’s General Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs, congratulates the Ilaje RDC on the AGM. “The achievements of Ilaje RDC reinforce our belief that a process that is community-driven with an effective governance structure can stimulate quicker community development than processes and systems designed without effective participation of community members,” he said.
Prince Omomowo invites members of the Ilaje RDC, communities, the Government, NNPC/CNL Joint Venture partners and other stakeholders to the event, saying that he is happy to present account of his stewardship for the past eight months.
According to him, since his administration was inaugurated in February 2018, the Ilaje RDC team has awarded scholarships, conducted free medical health outreach, produced their first Newsletter, acquired two (2) plots of land at Ugbo to construct RDC secretariat, and advanced plans to start construction of a Mother and Child Health Care Center, a joint project with the Amalgamation of Ilaje Ugbo Coastal Communities Association (AMAICCOMA).
In addition, the internal and external audits of the Ilaje RDC accounts were also carried out during the period under review.
