The youths who were trained in Cassava Farming, Plantain Production and Aqua-Culture (Fishing Farming) told Our Senior Correspondent that the two-year training programme spanned from July 11, 2016 to August 2018, adding that they have not been given any assurance on when their starter-packs will be released to them by their various RDCs, contrary to earlier promises.
Two of the successful trainees who spoke to Fresh Angle International on condition of anonymity, explained that the essence of the Agribusiness training was to take the minds of youths off violence, corruption, pipeline vandalism, militancy and other criminal tendencies.
They disclosed that during the orientation stage of the programme, they were taken to the biggest fish and cassava farms in Nigeria situated in Ibadan, Oyo State and were also taken to PIND office in Egbokodo, Warri South Local Government Area for two weeks training, before the demonstration stage at three acres of land in Omadino, also in Warri South Local Government.
