The victim of the bomb scare that rocked the Ugbuwangue area of Warri, Delta State Tuesday March 19, Princess Emily Sisan Okotie says there is speculation that some politicians are preventing the arrest of the suspects who planted the bomb, even as she stated that those who planted the Improvised Explosive Device, IED containing 17 dynamites may have passed through her back staircase which has no protector.
Princess Emily Okotie who averred that she does not know if there is any political undertone behind the planting of IED in her “one and only precious house,” accused some Ugbuwangue youths and elders of fraudulently selling some of her “lands to some politicians and the matter is in court”.
On speculations that she connived with the police to arrange bomb in her house just to raise alarm, Princess Okotie declared, “I think they are stupid. I should definitely not arrange to bomb this one and only precious house which I have been toiling night and day for 5 years now to complete”.
On how the suspected bomb was discovered in her house, Princess Emily Sisan Okotie who is from the Okoromadi family in Ugbuwangue explained in a press statement, “at about 8:00am on Tuesday the 19th of March 2013, I was dressing up to go for my normal business when my visiting son ran down from the top of the house and said he saw something like dynamite in the room on top of my bedroom. My son lives at Ibadan with his newly wedded wife. That very morning, he took some persons upstairs to work on the uncompleted roof of my 4 storey building. They went up through the inside staircase. As he was coming down through the back staircase which leads to my bedroom area, he saw something hidden behind an unfixed bath tub which looks like dynamite. I thought he was joking. He insisted I have to go look at it. For fear I did not go, but my boy and others went up and saw it, came back to say that the thing is strange and looks like real. I started to panic and asked everybody to come out of the house. We all ran to the nearby road and I had to go to the police. After all protocols, the police and its anti-bomb squad came with us to the house and evacuated everyone in the area”.
Princess Okotie further explained that she told the police that she does not have any personal fracas with anyone as a preacher, but the only people against her are some of her larger family members in Ugbuwangue who have been allegedly misappropriating “our money.”
