NUJ Chapel frowns over non recognition of its members by authorities of Ndokwa East Council

The DeltaState Local Government Information Officers Chapel of Nigeria Union ofJournalists has frowned at the continuous disregard of its members byauthorities of Ndokwa East local government council, Aboh.

In acommuniqué issued at the end of its monthly meeting held Wednesday October 19at Obiaruku, headquarters of Ukwuani local government area, the LG InformationOfficers Chapel called on the Head of Personnel Management of Ndokwa East localgovernment council, Sir. Okeya M.O. to as a matter of urgency ensure that theInformation Unit of the council is made functional so as to guarantee theprofessional and efficient management of Information in the local government.

TheCommuniqué which was signed by the Chapel Chairman and Secretary, Mrs. JoyMordi and Ejuwa Sonny Egueyin wondered why after several attempts by itsmembers working  in Ndokwa East to carryout their professional schedule, some management staff are hell bent onfrustrating their efforts, thus rendering them redundant.

It advisedits colleagues from Correspondent Chapels to do what is right professionally bydealing directly with Information Officers in the 25 local government councils.

The LGInformation Officers Chapel noted that creation of separate department forInformation Officers in the 25 councils in Delta State as enjoyed by theircounterparts in other states as well as federal and state ministries will go along way to guarantee efficient management of Information at the grassroots.

The localgovernment Information Officers had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Headof Personnel Management of Ukwuani local government council, Mrs. B.E. Bielonwuas part of its efforts at sensitizing council heads on the need to createenabling environment for LG Information Officers to carry out their schedule.
