Exclusive: How 28-year old cripple, three others raped undergraduate in Benin


A 28-year old cripple, Saturday Enabulele and his three friends are soon to appear in court in Benin City, Edo State for alleged  gang raping of an undergraduate who is in her early 20s, Our Benin City Correspondent reports .

After parading the suspected rapists with 19 other kidnappers and criminals by the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, Fresh Angle sought to visit police headquarters in another occasion in order to have an exclusive interview with the suspected rapist (cripple) and three other cohorts.

The cripple who claimed to have offered the rape victim temporary accommodation for one week said his fiancée introduced the young lady to him as one in need of help. The suspected rapist further said he also offered her a job but was surprise at the turn of event when the young lady accused him ofraping her.

Earlier the 22-year old victim simply known as Augusta in a brief interview said the cripple did not only rape her but also ordered his three friends to rape her while he used his handset to record the unholy act in his room.

Enabulele who claimed to have recorded the incident said she was beaten after stripping her naked by his friends because she was apologizing not to report the issue to the police. “She stole my 15 thousand naira, after which she accused me and others of raping her, so I called my brothers to beat her and naked her, there were lots of people I recorded everything on my phone when she was naked and
beaten, she even said I stole her phone and money after raping her
with my friends”, he said.

The suspect who is popularly known as Alinco said he was a former footballer. He also disclosed the he became crippled following a stab he receivedon his spinal cord while separating a fight sometime ago. Others arrested with him who also denied the allegation include Oza Sumwen Enina, 17, Nose Okoebi, 18 and Junior Odubu, 19.


The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo said the suspects will soon be charged to court.
