There are palpable fears among local government workers inDelta State over pension funds deducted from their salary which cannot beaccessed or accounted for,Fresh Angle can authoritatively report.
Some Staffers ofWarri South Local Government Council who spoke on condition of anonymity notedwith anger that since June 2011 when the monthly pension deductions started, noalert has been received from the pension fund operator, First Guarantee PensionLimited against their initial promise of regularly alerting their subscribers.
The workers are even more aggrieved that after the deductionof April and October salary, there is no account to show the total sum so fardeducted, let alone access the state government contributions. Attempt by someof the staffers to access their money via the pin code and website sent totheir mobile phones for about 3 months now by First Guarantee Pension hasfurther fueled frustrations as all that could be seen on the website is"First Guarantee Pension Limited under construction". It was notclear as at press time where exactly the funds are being paid into.
