The Warri Division of the Nigerian Red Cross Society on Saturday June 8 in Warri decorated the Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye and two other persons as Patron and Associate Members of the Society.
In an address before the formal decoration, the Warri Divisional Chairman, Dr. Mayomi Onuwaje explained that the organization which was established by an act of parliament in 1961 is poised to build a national society that will continue to respond to conflict and emergency situation with professionalism.
While commending the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for effectively responding to the 2012 flood disaster, Dr. Onuwaje called for support to enable the Red Cross Society continue its humanitarian efforts.
The Delta State Chairman of Nigerian Red Cross Society, Chief Collins Ezeuwu stated that the decoration of Dr. Uroye, Mr. Benjamin N. Ikhinmwin and Mr. Adebisi Dickson as patron and members of the society is in recognition of their selfless services to humanity through the Red Cross.
The Warri South Council boss, Dr. Augustine Uroye who responded on behalf of others averred that they are more than ever prepared to render more selfless service to humanity.
Highpoints of the colourful ceremony were the formal decoration of Dr. Uroye as patron of Warri Division of the Red Cross by the State Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Chief Collins Ezeuwu, decorations of the two new association members by Dr. Uroye as well as the inspection of parade guard by dignitaries present.
