NGO, Bayelsa government to organize peace, environment seminar


 
A Non governmental organization, The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ in collaboration with the Bayelsa State government, has concluded arrangement to organizing a 2-day annual peace and environment seminar tagged, Bayelsa 2013.
 
The theme of the seminar is “Towards Eradicating Environmental Threats and Sea Piracy Challenges in Africa.”
 
The National Coordinator of CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, in a statement explained that  the seminar will address fundamental issues such as crude oil theft and illegal refineries, illegal mining, kidnapping and marine piracy, as well as other environmental challenges in Africa.
 
Comrade Mulade added that the forum will facilitate a policy dialogue among key stakeholders in the environment sector, including government, on how best to promote innovations to meet environmental best practices.
 
Fresh Angle gathered that speakers to deliver papers at the seminar include the Honourable Minister of Environment, Hajia Hadiza Mailafia; the Minister of State  for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation, Ghana, Dr. (Mrs.) Bernice Heloo; Professor Moses Montesh of the College of Law, University of South Africa, Pretoria; as well as other renowned academics and seasoned administrators, from within and outside Nigeria.
 
The seminar is billed to hold at the Banquet Hall of the Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa on 24th – 25th September 2013. The event will climax with a Gala Nite where various categories of awards will be presented to worthy persons and institutions.
 
Convener of the seminar, Comrade Mulade averred that the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice is optimistic that with the right collaboration from various stakeholders, environmental challenges will be placed in the right perspective and tackled effectively.
