Warri South Local Government Council has instituted the necessary legislative and executive framework, for the commencement of numbering of houses, street naming, renaming and related matters across the local government area.
Chairman of Warri South local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi who made the disclosure Thursday July 18, at the Council Main Secretariat in Warri, stated that as part of efforts to adequately sensitize members of the public, his administration will engage landlords and other property owners next week on the new development.
He noted that the planned numbering of houses, which has just been introduced for the first time in the history of Warri South Local Government, is a strategic move by his administration to come up with adequate data, with a view to improving governance at the grassroots as well as boosting security in the area.
The Warri South local Government Chairman stressed that the review of financial obligations for street naming and naming of close within the council, is sequel to the 2019 Miscellaneous Revenue Bye-Law just passed by the Warri South Local Government Legislative Arm.
Dr. Tidi enjoined property owners who hitherto placed street/close naming signs in their area without due approval from Warri South Local Government Council, to come to the Council Secretariat, with a view to authenticating their actions, so as to avoid sanction.
