Kogi 2019: PDP Guber aspirant, Averehi accuses Bello of underperformance

Ahead of Kogi Gubernatorial election slated for November 16, 2019, a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  from the  Central part of the State, Mr. Bayo Adobayin Averehi has pronounced his desire to re-define the narrative of the State, berating the incumbent APC led government of underperforming in the last three and half years, Our Kogi State Correspondent reports.
 
 
In a ceremony which held at Okene, weekend, party officials at the five local government areas, statutory delegates and stakeholders in Kogi Central Senatorial District, reportedly endorsed  Mr. Bayo Adobayin Averehi for the PDP governorship ticket.
 
Averehi in his remarks, opined that the economic crises in the State was what motivated him to declare his aspiration, adding that he has the capacity to govern the State. 
 
According to him, people of Kogi State have been subjected to abject poverty, stressing that the Ebiras have been tagged bad people, based on the performance of Governor Yahaya Bello.
 
On how he intends to face other strong aspirants from the party, Mr. Averehi stated that God gives power and the people of the state are better informed than before, hence, the people will vote for who they think can effectively represent them.
 
 
In his words, "experience I know is key in everything we do in life, as a result of this, my wealth of experience in the public and private sector would be put to bear and professionals would be consulted to execute some of the blue print I have to alleviate the fortune for the State".
 
Averehi who earlier paid homage to the Ohinohi of Ebira land, Dr. Ado Ibrahim to seek for his royal blessing, pleaded for peace from different factions in the party, noting that, if the party must come back to where it belongs, personal interest must be dropped for the common interest of the party come November 2019.
 
In his speech, the PDP Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Iliyasu Zubair thanked his party Senatorial District which comprises of five local government areas for their loyalty/support in redeeming the image of the PDP, warning that all personal interest must be dropped if the party must achieve its common goal in the forth coming election.  
 
" We have decided to support one of the aspirants and today we are making it open that we are supporting Mr. Bayo Adobayin Averehi, such that our voice can be heard and we can together ensure the emergence of the most capable candidate who will present us with the best chance of winning the governorship election. We have assessed all the aspirants who have expressed interest to run for Kogi State governorship election and considered their manifestos, antecedents, and political history before giving the candidature of Mr. Averehi a nod as the person we have chosen as the right candidate to fly the partys flag on November 16. We the Kogi State Central Forum of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have endorsed the candidature of Bayo Adobayin Averehi, because he has a very rich political pedigree and has all the credentials to flag the common interest of all the Ebira people", he stated.
