Premium Steel and Mines Limited, present owners of the old Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja, Delta State, have disowned an online platform designed by strange elements for the purpose of disposing off of old and obsolete equipment in the yard, warning that the online business was a scam and should be discountenanced by members of the public.
A statement signed by Mr. Emmanuel Etaghene, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Affairs on behalf of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Prasanta Mishra, explained that the entire online transaction and designated bank account for the transaction has no bearing with Premium Steel and Mines Limited.
He disclosed that in recent times, PSML has been inundated with claims from those who paid for advertised equipment on the said platform only to be told that the company has no such business platform.
‘’We have to make this clarification to save unsuspecting members of the public from falling into the hands of fraudsters, who are in the business of making brisk money from those who visit their dubious site and sometimes make payments without clarifications from the company. We are a corporate organization into serious business and do not transact our business via such online platform.
‘’We wish to inform that whoever wants to do business with our company should come to the plant in Ovwian-Aladja for proper enquiries. We have not outsourced our business interests to third parties. Whoever does business with anybody whether online or outside our company offices does so at his or her own risk.
‘’We also wish to warn those in the business of using our company name for such illicit business to desist forthwith as the long arm of the law is there to catch up with them. The security agencies have been fully briefed and massive manhunt for perpetrators of such crimes is on. In the meantime, we wish to warn those who wish to do business with our company to visit the plant and be properly guided. We have no relationship with these fraudsters who are ripping hapless members of the public of their hard-earned money under any guise. To be forewarned is to be forearmed’’, the statement added.
