A 78- year old female juju priest, Mrs. Beniduoboere Yeidoude, has set her shrine ablaze 68 years after worshipping her idols, claiming that the idols have ruined her life.

The septuagenarian disclosed to journalists in Bomadi while setting her idols on fire that, “my life as idol worshipper was 68 years of groping in darkness. I have lost everything to the worship of juju. Look at me now; I am 78 years, after allowing the devil stole away my life fortunes, what more can I achieve at 78?” Mrs. Yeidoude asked rhetorically.

 She further revealed, “I had 12 children, but I have only two surviving girls. 10 children died in mysterious circumstances, including money disappearing from my save. Now, I have known Christ and I have to give up the worship of idols, which now belongs to my old life.”

It was revealed that she started juju practice at 10 when she found the image in the river while taking her bath. Until she was converted and gave her life to God, she became renowned and sought for and controls disciples amongst juju believers. The name Beniduoboere which literally means “woman from the river” she said had profound negative influence in her life as juju priest. Her disciples who believed in her ability to unravel mysteries and meeting their spiritual needs according to her expressed disappointment seeing her converted.

Responding to questions on what influenced her decision to destroy her idols, Mrs. Yeidoude disclosed that it took her surviving 2 children and other members of her family through fasting and prayer to destroy the idols after the prayers and deliverance mission of several men of God saw her through.

Performing the burning of the idols, the minister of God who led the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN members, Rev. Apostle Waterowei said the burning of the idols became necessary when Beniduoboere who was respected in the field of idol worshippers, now Christere gave her life to God and she was asked to give her idols up for destruction, saying that it is only one master every Christian serves, “and that is the Almighty God”.

He advised all those who were with her in the worship of juju that if they could see the event of a chronic juju worshipper destroying her idols, they should also give up the worship of juju and turn to God.
