Workers in the Delta State Unified Local Government Service Commission will receive their December salaries before Christmas.
Speaking to newsmen after an emergency meeting in Asaba on Friday, Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, in Delta, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, stated that there was the need for Staff of the Local Government Councils, to be paid their December salaries before Christmas.
He said the Governor of Delta, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was passionate about the welfare of the people and had strongly advocated that salaries be paid to workers before Christmas.
According to the ALGON Boss, "For us, it is a welcome development and we are happy and confident that the staff of the councils will be happy with the development.
"The Governor has always shown that he cares for the welfare of workers in the state and on behalf of my colleagues, we appreciate His Excellency for this kind gesture,.
"I also urge workers in the local government councils to show more dedication to duty to justify government's kind gesture.
"I wish all workers in the local government councils a very happy Christmas celebration and a prosperous new year," he added.
