The Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom in Delta State, Chief Ambrose Olughor says Ugbomro is the only oil producing community in Uvwie without any project executed by Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
Chief Olughor who also doubles as the Unuevworo of Ugbomro declared that it is because of Ugbomro community that Uvwie is included among oil producing communities and therefore wondered why DESOPADEC is yet to execute any project in the community since it was established by the Ibori administration.
According to him, he was among those who founded the commission “as a complimentary development agency of the state government”.
He stressed that there is no indigene of Ugbomro working in DESOPADEC, a situation he described as unacceptable and insult to Ugbomro community.
Chief Olughor appealed to the federal and state governments to address the perceived imbalance immediately before it will result to a breakdown of law and order.
The Unuevworo who spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle in Ugbomro added that the major roads linking Ugbomro to the DSC- Otokutu- Aladja expressway that was awarded by previous administration have been abandoned.

He also accused the NDDC of abandoning a 2.9 kilometre road it awarded in the community as well as the Federal University of Petroleum Resources for only tarring the road up to the school without linking it to the community which is its host.
While noting some challenges the community has with Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Chief Olughor said since 1974 they have not received any compensation from SPDC and enjoined the federal as well as state government to compel the oil major to pay them their entitlements.
He also wants the Delta State and federal governments to construct roads across the community as well as build market in the community, claiming that there is already well surveyed land for that purpose.
According to him, the community is also yearning for projects such as street lights, portable water, hospital and student hostels, just as he appealed to NDDC to come back and complete the 5 units housing projects it awarded, which only two of it was built and taken over by the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE.
