Woman drags son to community vigilante over stolen N 5,000 wrist-watch, bead

An unidentified woman has dragged her only son, Chinaza to the Aladja Community Vigilante in Delta State, accusing him of stealing a wrist-watch estimated at five thousand naira belonging to his immediate younger sister and a bead which belongs to his grandmother, Our Senior Correspondentreports.

The unidentified woman said she tricked her son, Chinaza to the vigilante because she suspected him to be the one who allegedly stole the wrist-watch two weeks ago before stealing the bead which also belongs to her mother(Chinaza's grandmother) .

According to her, she noticed that the bead which her immediate younger sister wanted to use for her traditional marriage was missing in their house in Aladja, Udu local government Area and decided to drag her son whom she described as a “thief " to the vigilante in a bid to make him confess.

In his response to the allegation,  Chinaza  agreed to stealing the wrist-watch which he claimed he sold to a boy at Aladja Waterside and equally admitted guilty of stealing the grandmother’s bead as well as selling same for a paltry sum to someone he said he could no longer recognize.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that the unidentified boy whom Chinaza sold the wrist-watch to was summoned by the vigilante. The boy who acknowledged buying the stolen wrist-watch before the vigilante later paid three thousand naira for the wrist-watch which he had also sold to another person he said he could not remember.

As at the time of filing this report, neither Chinaza nor the Aladja Vigilante has been able to recover the bead.
