As Nigerians gear up for the 2015 general polls, a former Chief of Defence Staff, General Alexander Ogomudia (Rtd.) has revealed that his vote did not count in the 2011 general elections, a situation he described as “trouble".

General Ogomudia made the disclosure when he chaired the "103 years anniversary of Catholic faith in Uzere/ the dedication of a new church building as well as the installation of blessed sacrament” organized by St. Matthias Catholic Church in Uzere, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

In his words," my vote did not count in the last election. The politicians called it politics but i call it trouble”.  General Ogomudia also said till date, not a single project from Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has been sited and constructed in Uzere Community which has two oil wells, a situation he also described as trouble.

He advised parents to take better care of their children, stressing that they may never know who will grow well. He noted that if the “elders had not taken care of them while they were growing up, they would not have been where they are today”.

Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rev. John Oke Afareha enjoined Catholic faithful to be holy and renew their relationship with God, stressing that the newly dedicated church building is meant for the confirmation and sacrament of matrimony.

Bishop Afareha who described the church as a “symbol of faith” to its members, advised worshippers to exhibit true faith in their actions.

Chairman of the building planning committee, Rt. Hon. J.F.K. Omatsone called for unity among Catholics and other denominations, enjoining them to concentrate on their spiritual lives and pay less attention to the pursuit of materialism.

High points of the event was the prayer to formally dedicate the new church building as well as wall of the chapel of perpetual adoration by the bishop who was ably supported by other Catholic priests.
