NBA elects Alhassan as Lokoja branch Chairman

Barrister Ibrahim Alhassan has been elected as the Lokoja branch Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association, NBA. 

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Barrister Alhassan, who was elected on Friday defeated his close rival Muazu Abbas in a keenly contested election 

 

The new NBA Chairman scored 38 votes while his opponent scored 35 votes.

 

The election which recorded one invalid vote saw four delegates absent in the election.

 

For the position of secretary, Michael Olorunmola, defeated Fred Ademu, to emerge winner of that position.

 

According to the result announced by the electoral committee, Michael Olorunmola scored (30) votes, Emmanuel Mejabi (26) and Fred Ademu (18).

 

It was gathered that other positions in Lokoja NBA branch were elected on oppose. 

 

They are Friday Ameh, (Welfare Secretary), Loveth Oluwatosin Ajigi, (Treasurer) and Lawrence Ilobuno, (Publicity Secretary).

 

In his remarks, the electoral committee chairman Julius Elukpo described the election as transparent, free and fair.

 

"All the aspirants attested that this election was free and peaceful. Am using this medium to call on our leaders to borrow clew from what has transpired here today" he added.

 

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman Barrister Ibrahim Alhassan who was called to bar in 1988 promised to build on the success of his predecessor. 

 

The new excos will be inaugurated on the 24th of September 2021.
