We’ll ensure our children are free from Polio, other Immunizable diseases – LG Boss vows

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema has promised that his administration will continue to support the immunization programme and other health activities organized by the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency within available resources to ensure that Children from 0 – 59 months are free from Polio and other diseases.

Hon. Edema made the promise during the flag-off of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDS) programme targeted at children from 0-59 months in Warri South Local Government held at the Pessu Primary Health Care Centre, Warri.

The LG Boss who was represented by the Supervisor for Health, Warrri South Local Government Council, Mr. Emmanuel Amiwero, commended the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency, UNICEF, Rotary International and other donor Agencies for their Logistic and technical support for the development of the Health sector in Delta State, especially through the immunization programme.

He stated that the immunization exercise has followed a series of training programme for various cadres of health workers at State, Local Government and Ward levels.

The State Technical Facilitator for First Round NIPDS Warri South Local Government, Miss Akporiaye Nina noted that a dose of potent OPV vaccines will be administered to the babies to ensure that the goal of eradicating White Polio Virus from Nigeria is achieved.

Present at the flag-off ceremony were the PHC Coordinator, Warri South Local Government Council, Dr. Emmanuel Areh, Health Educator, WSLGC Onwo Beatrice, Local Immunization Officer, WSLGC, Mary Fregene and Apex Nurse WSLGC, Mrs. Ayemere Marian.
