Delta Speaker implores Nigerians to put God first


Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has implored Nigerians to always put God first in all that they do.

In a chat with  journalists, Sunday June 11 after the 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the 6th Assembly held at Living Faith Church, Ibusa Road, in the State capital, Asaba, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori said that Nigerians must draw closer to God and remain prayerful, saying that with God all things are possible.

The Speaker who took the Bible reading from Psalm 100:1-5, said the essence of the Thanksgiving Service was to appreciate God for His good works and urged Deltans to continue to support the State Government.

He said, “we are here today to thank God for our journey so far in the Delta State House of Assembly. God has been very faithful to us, you cannot do anything without God. Nigerians must put God first in all that they do and this is why we came here today to thank Him for what He has done for Delta State House of Assembly and what He will still do for us in the House”.

Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service, the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa congratulated the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and members of the House on the occassion of the second anniversary of the Sixth Assembly.

Governor Okowa said that the House has worked diligently with God and the Executive Arm, praying God to give the State Government the grace to succeed in this time of economic recession. “This is a trying moment for us, but His Grace is sufficient for us. The Lord has been faithful to us. We deserve to give Him praise. The right thing to do is to thank God always”.

Congratulating members of the House for successful anniversary, the Governor said, “Members of the Delta State House of Assembly have worked with me diligently. The Lord has been very good to us. Let us put God first in all that we do. God will keep us together.Let us be prayerful always”.

Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Julius Oyinloye stressed the importance of thanksgiving and told the people to always celebrate what is good.

In his words, “the Glory of God must be given to Him. Everytime, you give thanks to God, you are asking for more.Give thanks always for everything”.
