THE PRESIDENT NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ITSEKIRI GRADUATES NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO ITSEKIRI GRADUATES WORLDWIDE

The President, National Association of Itsekiri Graduates (NAIG) wishes all our members worldwide a happy new year.

As stated in my speech on January 1, 2017, I wish to reiterate our commitment towards a better and more vibrant NAIG that will deliver on her core objectives amongst which is “To provide a strong voice for the Itsekiri Nation and play advocacy role on issues of common interest”.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me remind us that:

I swore to defend the NAIG constitution and that I will always do no matter the circumstances.

The Year 2017 for NAIG was characterized by a lot of issues especially those that bothers on the welfare of our members and the development of the Itsekiri Nation.

Critical issues such as the Conversion of our VTP5/OTP2 and VTP6 TRAINEES by Chevron Nigeria Limited, Recruitment of 24 Structural Engineers/Vessel Stencilin by Chevron into MID through a third party without employing any Itsekiri, Non-recruitment of Itsekiri Graduates into the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and her subsidiaries [e.g Nigerian Gas Processing Company (NGPC), Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Warri Refinery & Petrochemical Companies (WRPC),] etc, Funding of Koko-Ogheye Road, Ogheye shoreline Protection, Trans - Warri - Ode-Itsekiri Road, Ogheye Floating Market, Omadino - Escravos Road, National Maritime University (NMU) - Okerenghigho, The Multi-Purpose Youth Vocational Training Centre Egbokodo, Relocation of Headquarters of Warri South - West L.G.A to OGIDIGBEN, the development of an “Itsekiri Development/Economic Master plan”, the “Koko Toxic Waste by Ebenco”(which full analysis has been concluded but final result is being kept by NOSDRA), etc, are still in the front burner.

The recent bill for the Establishment of "The Federal Polytechnic Koko" sponsored by Hon. Daniel Reyenieju which has passed its second reading is another issue we must put our hands on deck to ensure its full manifestation.

The Itsekiri representatives in the Delta State House of Assembly should use the instrumentality of the legislative arm of the government to ensure the $5 Million Multi-Purpose Youth Vocation Training Centre Egbokodo that has been deliberately shut down for 3 years by the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa led administration is reopen within the shortest possible time before NAIG and other interest groups in Warri Kingdom use the confrontational approach which is now the last option left to us in the reopening of the $5 Million Multi-Purpose Youth Vocation Training Centre. Egbokodo

I wish to inform all our members worldwide that the first quarter of the year 2018 will be very busy for us as the National Executive Council (NEC) in Collaboration with Congress will take these issues to another level that will definitely make them get the desired attention.

The RECONCILIATION/INTEGRATION/CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE will conclude the adoption of our constitution (under review) in the first quarter of 2018.

This committee is working to ensure that all issues bordering on the corporate existence of NAIG is properly addressed.

The committee will ensure that a new constitution for NAIG that will strongly weaken possible tools of division within the Association and lay the foundation for true unity when adopted by Congress in the first quarter of this year.

The delay in adopting the constitution till date is to ensure that all interest are properly taken into consideration.

The National Executive Council (NEC) through the EDUCATION COMMITTEE will continue our free enrolment project for the May/June 2018 WAEC Examination for indigent Itsekiri Students from third week of January 2018 with Schools in Sapele being our next scheduled Venue.

All members are encouraged to be actively involved in providing quality education to our younger ones especially those in Secondary Schools.

Our 21st Annual National Convention is scheduled for July 2018.

Other Programs for the year 2018 shall be made available in due course.

The President/CEO wish to remind all members that this Government remain committed to a more united and indivisible NAIG where our decisions are not based on personal or emotional weakness but duly guided by our Constitution, Congress, and our Conscience.

As the Election year draws near with the Local Government Election around the corner, we call on all Itsekiri Graduates to get their PVC ready, as we must not only have a say on who govern us but also participate in the electioneering process for a better Itsekiri Nation.

The Party Primaries ahead of the 2019 General election comes up around April 2018, all Members interested in contesting any elective Position should do so without fear or favour.

We congratulate our very own and leader Comr. Tenumah Alero Naomi on her well-deserved appointment into the board of the Federal Government Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority.

We will work with other interest groups in Warri Kingdom to ensuring that only credible candidates with impeccable track records get the nod to govern us ahead 2019 as the present docile representation by our political office holders is taking Iwere Nation nowhere.

GOD BLESS NAIG

GOD BLESS HIS MAJESTY OGIAME IKENWOLI

GOD BLESS WARRI KINGDOM
