DTHA 2019: We don’t need someone with divisive tendencies, Okowa’s Political Aide declares

Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Matthew Poko Opuoru says Warri South Constituency II needs a bridge builder in 2019 and not someone who has divisive tendencies.

The Governor’s Aide and former DESOPADEC Commissioner who is eyeing Warri South Constituency II seat in Delta State House of Assembly come 2019, made the declaration Thursday February 8 when he led his supporters on a consultative visit to Agbarah Warri PDP leader, Chief Israel Abido.

While noting that he already told the incumbent member representing Warri South Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Dennis Omovie of his intension to contest the 2019 election after two earlier attempts, Mr. Opuoru assured those who feel uncomfortable with his ties with their Itsekiri neighbours not to worry as he will fight for the interests of everyone in the constituency.

The Okere Urhobo Political leader who recently renovated the Warri South PDP Secretariat to an enviable standard compared to others in the State, has consistently worked for the growth of the PDP and remained loyal and dedicated to the party.

In his response, Chief Abido stated that they want someone who can work for the interests of all tribes in Warri without undermining the “Urhobo slot”.

He noted that political stakeholders in Warri should continue to work with understanding and asserted that Mr. Opuoru has shown over the years that he won’t be a stooge of any group.

Chief Abido expressed optimism that Opuoru will do better if given the opportunity to represent the constituency and stated that it was time political aspirants seek offices based on merit and not where they come from.
