Etsu Nupe, Okpe Monarch, King Diete-Spiff preach peaceful co-existence

Etsu Nupe world-wide aid Emir of Bida, in Niger State, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Orodje of Okpe, Orhue 1, the Amayanabo of Twon-Brass in Bayelsa State, King Alfred Diete-Spiff  have stressed the need for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians irrespective of their tribe and religion.

The Monarchs made the call Thursday March 22 at Ugolo-Okpe in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, during the unveiling of the permanent secretariat Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ.

The Chairman of Niger State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Alhaji Abubakar while commending CEPEJ for advocating as well as standing firm for peace and conflict resolution, prayed God to give Nigerians the spirit of tolerance for each other.

Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori while declaring that Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is doing a lot to better the living condition of people in the State, praised CEPEJ for their continued pursuit of peaceful co-existence.

Earlier, the National Coordinator, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, noted that when the new African Heritage Academy International which CEPEJ is building comes on board, it will help young people get actively involved in the process of regional transformation.

He commended Apex Environmental Consultants Limited, Egbema Gbaramatu Communities’ Development Foundation, EGCDF, Partnership Initiative for Niger Delta, PIND and Chevron Nigeria Limited for their support.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that other speakers at the event include representative of Librarian Ambassador to Nigeria, Louis Edward of British High Commission, Abuja and the Director, Centre for Foundation Studies, Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
