Chevron lists gains of partnership with Delta Government

Chevron Nigeria Limited, operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture, says her partnership with the Delta State Government has resulted in improvement in the quality of life through investments in education, health, social infrastructure and the sponsorship of manpower development programmes.

The General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, PGPA of Chevron, Mr. Esimaje Brikinn made the assertion  Tuesday May 22 in a message during the commissioning/handover of the NNPC/Chevron Nigeria Limited Joint Venture sponsored solar powered portable water project for Osubi Community in Okpe Local Government Area.

Mr. Brikkin who was represented by the Area Manager, PGPA, Field Operation, Warri, Mr. Sam Daibo, disclosed that the solar powered potable water project comprises of solar panels, a submersible pump, overhead holding tanks, 6 dispensing taps as well as a perimeter fence with a gate to the Osubi Primary and Osubi Secondary Schools.

According to the Chevron PGPA Boss, some of the positive benefits of the partnership between Delta State Government as well as NNPC/CNL JV and other Chevron companies in Nigeria are: the Ekpan Women Development Centre, E-Library at Ubeji, Mother & Child Hospital in Sapele and the Edjeba Solar Powered Water Project, which have been commissioned.

Fresh Angle International can report that Chevron has also made good progress on the Ekpan Surgical Theatre/Cell Rooms, Aruakpor-Umah Six Classroom Blocks and the Edjeba Drainage System Projects, in addition to the NNPC/CNL JV- Sponsored NYSC Science Teachers’ Programme at Ekpan Secondary School in Uvwie Local Government Area.

Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources as well as Commissioner for Secondary and Basic Education, Chief Tilije Okenmor and Barr. Chiedu Ebie respectively, who were represented by Dr. (Mrs.) Felicia Adun and Okpala Ekene Paul, commended Chevron for the continuous provision of health as well as education facilities in the state.

They enjoined people of Osubi Community to maintain the facility and make judicious use of it.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that representative of Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Chairman of Osubi Community Erugbonor Paul and the Principal of Osubi Secondary School, Mr. Sunday Ukujere were among those who spoke at the ceremony.
