Motorists plying the busy Eleekara-Oyo Road at the out-skirt of Oyo town, Oyo State, have berated former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for allegedly ignoring the road while in the saddle as Chief Executive of the state.
A motorist who identified himself simply as Olayemi, told Our Oyo State Correspondent that Ajimobi administration abandoned the road without any reason for three years.
“Ajimobi's government never cared to fix the road, despite complaints from motorists that ply the road on daily basis. The former governor could not simply fix a 14kilometer road, despite the state resources at his disposal. He should know that posterity will judge him later in life. I hope, just hope that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde will come to our aid on time to repair the road”, Olayemi stated.
Another motorist who preferred to be identified as Akin, said Nigerian leaders do not care about the welfare of the people.
“The Eleekara-Oyo Road is an example. During campaign period, you will see them coming to the people with campaign promises, which are empty, so as to curry votes from the people.
Farmers from Ilora and other villages find it difficult to transport their farm produce to Eleekara Market, they have to use alternative routes to get their goods to the market”, Akin explained.
