Salami Reveals: I love to play for Real Madrid

Super Eagles fringe player, former under 20 International and current Warri Wolves striker, Gbolahan Salami has revealed that he prefers the Spanish La Liga to other European top leagues, noting that his dream is to play for Spanish giant and reigning EUFA Champions League holder, Real Madrid.

Gbolahan whose spell with South African Premier League Club, Memelodi Sundowns was reportedly aborted due to work permit, disclosed to Fresh Angle in an exclusive chat in Warri, Delta State that he is hoping to hit a club in Europe in the next three months.

The CHAN Eagles bullish striker who has so far scored 10 goals for Warri Wolves FC told Our Correspondent that his immediate target is to net 20 goals this season for the Delta State team.

The Kwara State born ex-Under 20 and Eagles goal poacher known for his rugged attacking play spoke on his perceived bad status. “I want to appeal to my fans not to believe the negative image about me. I don’t think I’m very rude despite public opinion. It is my passion for the game that is being misconstrued to be stubbornness”, he explained.

Gbolahan who started his professional career with renowned Lagos based Club, Julius Berger FC and got his soccer exposure while playing for 3SC of Ibadan noted that he has undergone trials in the past at Olympiacos of Greece among other clubs in Europe in a bid to ply his trade outside the continent of Africa.

When asked about the toughest defender he has come against as a striker, he responded, “the toughest defender I have played against is Chinedu Udoji of Enyimba FC of Aba.

On the divide between home based Super Eagles and their Europe based counterpart, Gbolahan Salami opined, “I don’t think there is any difference between foreign pros and those playing in the domestic league. We are all good enough to play for the National Team”, he added, “the Eagles Chief Coach is like a father, brother and everything to me”.

Salami that is yet to get married played for other top Nigerian Premier League Clubs like Enyimba FC of Aba and Sunshine Stars of Akure in recent seasons before joining Warri
