There is no doubt to say human existence is often marked by the achievement of men and women whom have contributed and seen to making the world a beautiful place to live without any recourse as humanbeing shall be known by his/her character just as trees are known by its fruits
In the light of this premise, Hon. Hajiya Binta Mamman has given true honour to her name at any mention without condition or circumstance. While it is pertinent to state the moral justification the foregoing, it is also important to briefly introduce Hon. Hajiya Binta Mamman
Honorable Hajiya Binta Mamman popularly referred to as Mai Gurara in Niger State is the only female member of Niger State House of Assembly and she doubles as the Chairman of the House Committee on Women (Gender) Affairs and social development.
She represents Gurara constituency and this could perhaps be the origin of her nickname-“Mai Gurara”. Therefore, I shall limit my understanding of her “substantial substance” within the confines of her public responsibilities. However, I will like to quickly note that the magnanimity and proficiency of this quintessential law maker has so far not been limited to the jurisdictions of her assignment only as it is on record how she has been touching lives positively beyond Gurara local government area. Even though I cannot fathom the motivation behind why the workaholic honorable is resolved on turning things around positively everywhere possible, I sincerely commend her for that.
For the purpose of records, the very young but ebullient honorable like her contemporaries is facing one of the most onerous constituency overhaul as a result of the past passively docile stewardship of PDP in the area which has due to nonchalant attitude of those charged with public trust disconnected the electorate from policy makers and by large extension subjected rural areas to untold hardship and underdevelopment.
So, whatever is said is but a tip of the iceberg as far as the endeavors of “Mai Gurara” will be concerned. But, thank God she is not living any stone untouched to redeem the lost glory of Gurara as well as regaining confidence in its human and material resources.
It is worthy to note here that Honorable Hajiya Binta Mamman whose sway at the Niger State House of Assembly is far yet to mark two years of oath taking to office has performed credibly well with a very sound assessment visible to the blind and audible to the deaf as she has among other things but not limited to during this period in review facilitated the employment of many Gurara sons and daughters into secured civil service scheme at both State and National level.
Most Interesting is the accountable justification given to her constituency allowance thus far vis-à-vis the resuscitation of seven motorized boreholes at Diko and Boyi with a conventional one at Sabon Diko. She also constructed new ones at Buta, Kabo, Pasali and Egba in Bonu.
As if it is not enough, she constructed two each in the nine wards of Gurara Local Government plus six at Lambata, the commercial hub of Gurara Local Government Area.
Donbitso has a face lift as she built four class rooms and two offices at Donbitso primary school. She extended the primary schools building project to Tufa central primary school where she built three classrooms and an office. More so, bearing in mind that the best investment is human empowerment, “Mai Gurara” embarked on the organization of skill acquisition program in netting, beads making, tailoring and fashion design for women and young girls across the ten wards of Gurara local government area.
Also part of her numerous stride is a collaborated free medical services rendered to the sick, organization of an induction course for the ten elected ward councilors as well as payment of school fee for students in financial distress at various high institutions.
Furthermore in education development is her acquisition of two hundred and fifty desks, two thousand five hundred bags and publication of a non-sellable ten thousand copies of notebooks strictly monitored and distributed to students and pupils in the area amidst annual festival packages to her constituents.
In addition to all these efforts, “Mai Gurara” also on routine basis provide stipend in the form of stomach infrastructure to teachers, religious leaders, traditional rural and those in need.
At this juncture, I will like to state unequivocally that this God fearing politician, agent of women empowerment, hope of the hopeless, pride of the commoner, community developer cum icon of servant leadership has written her name in gold and on a good part of history for it is very certain that posterity will be kind to her chronicles.
Hence, she has through charisma and effective services delivery distinguished herself as a role model worthy of emulation by all those within the structures of government for unequivocally speaking, her endeavors has set a pace which truly depict the popular saying-what a man can do, a woman can do better.
Finally, I wish to borrow the words of Aristotle where he said, “”my friend is the man who want the good of me, not for his own benefit but for my own sake” to wake all those whom sentiments have hitherto eaten very deep into their political selection ideals and support base.
Moreover, all the strides highlighted here above are not executed for a particular religious group, political party, gender or elites but for the progress of Gurara Local Government. So, let us all rise and embrace credence over persona, desirers so that in the end, we will all be proud of ourselves just as every sane mind is proud of Honorable Hajiya Binta Mamman.
