There was mild confrontation between some Ijaw youths and protesting Itsekiri youths at the NPA Miller Waterside, Warri at about 10:45 am today, Monday, May 19.
The Itsekiri youths who were protesting round designated streets in Warri, regarding the controversy that has surrounded INEC's report of ward and unit delineation in Warri Federal Constituency, were allegedly pelted with stones by some Ijaw youths around the NPA Miller axis.
To forestall escalation of the confrontation between the Itsekiri and Ijaw youths, Nigerian Army, has begun patrol of the NPA Miller axis and the Ekurede Itsekiri/ Ugbori end.
Meanwhile a stakeholders - meeting of representatives of Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo, convened by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, is expected to commence 12 noon today at Abuja.
The meeting is expected to douse the growing tension amongst the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo in Warri Federal Constituency.
