Ejeh accuses Chevron of discrimination against Ugborodo indigenes
Comrade Wilson Ejeh

The new Chairman of Ugborodo Community National Youth Development Body in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, Comrade Wilson Ejeh, has accused Oil and Gas major, Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, of discrimination against Ugborodo indigenes working as contract staff with the company, in favour of non-indigenes who are being, “booked from Warri to work under the guise of essential workers.”

Comrade Ejeh, who made the allegation in a press statement made available to Fresh Angle International last night, Wednesday May 6, vowed that his leadership, “will not tolerate slavery and discrimination against any Ugborodo indigene working in Chevron, irrespective of the contract types and names”.

While insisting there, “is no justification to starve any Ugborodo indigene who are contract staff under any contract name such as PSL, Benkline, Next oil, Tomba Resources and Ugborodo Intercontinental”, from Chevron’s operations, “because oil and gas production is still ongoing in the company despite the COVID-19 pandemic”, Comrade Ejeh stated: “Ugborodo Indigenes, who have served the company for several years as contract staff, have not been paid April salary as a result of their classification as service contract staff, rather Chevron is continuously locking out indigenous workers from Ugborodo, who reside in the village, meaning the company wants the affected staff and their families to die in hunger in this difficult time”.

He stressed that Chevron must immediately grant access to indigenous workers from Ugborodo to their places of work and pay their salaries up-to-date, same way the company had lived up to its obligation to those engaged as direct staff and labour contract workers.
