Just In: Woman, others escape death as Water tanks collapse in Warri
Wreckage caused by the collapsed water tanks

A middle aged woman and others, today Saturday May 23, escaped death in Bazunu area of Warri, Delta State, when three water tanks anchored on a single water tower collapsed at a private car park near the popular Igbudu Market, Warri.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that each of the collapsed tanks contained 1,000 liters of water.

The incident reportedly caused tension in that part of Warri metropolis as it damaged an Honda Civic car, a Red Toyota Camry and a Toyota Corolla car with registration number ABJ 907 PP.

Owner of the Toyota Corolla, a woman, was said to be inside her car, when the accident occurred.

As at the time of filing this report, the woman had been rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Investigations revealed that the car park also accommodates Damaxco Table Water, even as it was gathered that the Water tank tower steel pipes were too light for the weight it was constructed to carry.

Concerned stakeholders called on the Warri South Local Government Authority to investigate the collapse with a view to sanction those responsible for the shoddy construction of the water tower, so as to serve as deterrent to others.
