Passengers escape death along Asaba- Onitsha Expressway following trailer’s brake failure

Several passengers’ on-board two commercial buses and two commercial taxis at about 12:00 pm Thursday February 20 escaped death along the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway by Summit junction when their vehicles were hit by an un-rushing trailer which suffered brake failure. 

Our Senior Correspondent who was at the scene of the accident few minutes later, reports that the trailer destroyed a street light along the road, shattered the windscreens of virtually all four vehicles on the scene as it ran into a shallow deep, while the driver of the trailer scampered for safety and passengers of the four vehicles were rushed to a nearby hospital after sustaining various degree of injuries.

When Fresh Angle arrived the scene, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force were trying to rescue the victims.

A senior official of the FRSC, Mr. J Agaba who spoke to Fresh Angle on the scene said although there was no death recorded, passengers in the four vehicles sustained serious injuries and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Asaba, Delta State Capital.
