The National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS says five of its members from University of Benin that attended the maiden public lecture of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG held at P.K. Pub, Warri were attacked and dispossessed of their valuables by those they described as “duffer monopolists”.
NAIS in a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Leleji Augustine and Secretary General, Comrade Onogho Gbubemi alleged that the students on arrival at the venue of the lecture were dispossessed of personal effects like mobile phones, gold necklace, hand chain, school I.D. cards, A.T.M cards, church I.D. card, passport, wallet and money.
The Itsekiri students while describing the NAIG public lecture as one capable of transferring knowledge to generations of Itsekiri ethnic nationality, called on all stakeholders to address the crisis in NAIG as quickly and fairly as possible so as to bring peace in Warri kingdom.
They called on the relevant authorities to investigate the attack on the five UNIBEN students so as to bring perpetrators of the act to justice.
