NGO gives out scholarship to 15 students

A Niger Delta based Non Governmental Organization, MorganSmart Development Foundation has given out scholarship to15 indigent studentsfrom secondary schools in Warri South local government.

Speaking during the second scholarship award ceremony, Presidentof Morgan Smart Development Foundation, Dr. Omawumi Urhobo described asituation where an intelligent child is unable to actualize his or her academicdreams as a result of lack of finance as unfortunate.

Dr. Omawumi Urhobo explained that her decision toinstitute the award of scholarship to indigent students is driven by personalexperience.

The Delta State Commissioner for Basic and SecondaryEducation who was represented by Sir Austin Ekeke enjoined other stakeholdersto invest in education, stressing that the primary responsibility of governmentis to create the right policy for education to thrive.

Speaking earlier, chairman of the occasion, Dr. EmmanuelUrhobo stressed the need for stakeholders to support the government in the areaof educational development.

Dr. Emmanuel Urhobo who is also the chairman Board of Trusteesof Morgan Smart Development Foundation noted that the primary objectives of thefoundation is to help in education and other areas of life, particularly torural women and youths in Nigeria.

High point of the event was the officialpresentation of school materials such as uniforms, sandals, mathematical setsand notebooks to the 15 students.

The beneficiaries are: Uweja Tosan from  Uwangue College II, Beke Erhieyonvwen Kansifrom Dore Numa College II, Favour Ebitaghagaha, Essi College II, Nwosu Emmanuel,Dore Numa College II, Umolo Eunice Vwede, Essi Junior College, Ugheni Favour,Yonwuren College II, Awani Solomon, Dore Numa College II, Etsede Oritseneye,Dore Numa College II, Oluwajiri Ekotse, Uwangue Senior College, Gift Pessu,Uwangue Senior College, Ebigbagha Courage Obaro, Essi Junior College, IyoyinQueen Gbemi, Basic Secondary School and Akperi Zealous, Ubeji Senior CommercialSchool.
