The police in Delta State have uncovered how a house wife by the name Grace Obi. F. allegedly arranged her kidnap with the intent of collecting N 1.5million ransom from her hubby, one Mr. Obi Jude M.
A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Celestina Kalu explained that the lady’s husband, Obi Jude M. who lives behind Markvia House, Ekete Inland in Udu Local Government Areas of the state lodged a complaint to the Area Commander’s Office in Warri that his wife, Grace Obi. F. was kidnapped along DSC Expressway by unknown hoodlums on March 7, 2014.
Acting on the complaint, the Police immediately commenced investigation and advised the complainant, Mr. Obi Jude “to play along with the hoodlums who had agreed to accept N 1.5million as ransom.
The statement further explained that the N 1.5million ransom was given to a close relation and confidant of the victim, Grace Obi, a certain Ogonna Onu M of No. 4 Ikukum Ogene Layout Ovwian and one Gift Erah M. by the complainant, Mr. Obi Jude M. to deliver to the alleged kidnappers.
The two emissaries reportedly went on the rescue mission in a Toyota Highlander Jeep with Reg. No. SMK 370 AZ belonging to Mr. Obi Jude M. to deliver the ransom and Mr. Obi’s wife Grace Obi .F. was released March 9, 2014 supposedly after payment of the ransom.
Luck however ran out of the suspects when the Area Commander of the Nigerian Police in Warri ordered the search of Mr. Obi’s Highlander Jeep, only for the sum of “N 1, 189,000.00 being part of the ransom paid” to be discovered in a carefully concealed spare tyre compartment of the Jeep.
The police statement added that while the search was going on, Gift Erah M. and one Fred Akpoveta. M., both tenants to the complainant (Mr. Obi Jude M.) realizing that the game was up took to flight, while Ogonna Onu was arrested and he is currently undergoing investigation.
Fresh Angle can however report that preliminary investigation by the police has revealed that the purported kidnap was stage-managed by Mr. Obi’s wife, Grace and her accomplices (suspects) to obtain the N 1.5million from Mr. Obi.
