People of Aja-Omamuminogho Community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, have demanded give-back in the form of infrastructural and human capital development, from the management of NECONDE/NPDC-AMT venture partners, operators of OML42.

Chairman of Aja-Omamuminogho Community, Evangelist Tony Aderejo, who made the demands on behalf of the community, Friday August 28, when Aja- Omamuminogho played host to NECONDE/NPDC-AMT at Ode-Itsekiri in Warri South Local Government Area, stated that it was not enough for the partners to continually exploit crude oil and gas resources from the community, stressing that it is time to give-back tangible development to the host community.

Fresh Angle International understands that the meeting was held at Ode-Itsekiri, because the founder of Aja-Omamuminogho Community, Prince Omamuminogho, migrated from Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of Itsekiri people.

Evangelist Aderejo, stressed the need for NECONDE/NPDC-AMT, to implement the five year-development plan they discussed with the host community.

He outlined needs of Aja-Omamuminogho Community to include employment of its indigenes as staff of NECONDE, upgrading of existing Health Care Centre in Ode-Itsekiri, establishment of poultry and piggery farm as sustainable project, low-cost  housing scheme, to address the housing deficit within the community, construction of skills’ acquisition centres, women empowerment through provision of microcredit loan scheme, provision of scholarships to tertiary level, welfare package for the elders as well as award of contracts to indigenes of Aja-Omamuminogho.

While presenting Aja-Omamuminogho Community address to NECONDE on behalf of the Chairman, Prince Billy Ekele, urged the company to as a matter of urgency, address the aforesaid demands of the community.

According to Prince Ekele, if NECONDE implements the outlined demands, it would go a long way to calm frayed nerves of indigenes of the host community.

Kessler added that the company will organize a larger stakeholders’ interactive meeting, where all issues of development raised would be addressed, even as he commended the host community for their peaceful disposition.
