It was an emotionally gripping sight earlier today (Wednesday April 30) in the Nation’s capital, Abuja when aggrieved women and mothers of the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists on April 14 from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State staged a protest.
Clad in black attires, the protesters converged at Eagle Square, with many of them weeping hysterically.
Correspondents report that the women marched to the National Assembly where they submitted a letter of protest, demanding the immediate release of the teenage girls who have now remained in captivity for 16 days.
Receiving the women, Senators Barnabas Gemade and Helen Esuene appealed for calm and told the women that the Senate was already considering a motion in connection with the girls and they also said the government was doing all that is possible to rescue the girls.
Yesterday, the media was awash with news that the abducted girls have already been married off to members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect for N200 each.
