Itsekiri graduates petition Chevron over 12 VTP6 slots
NAIG President, Comrade Alero Tenumah

The Comrade Alero Naomi Tenumah leadership of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, have petitioned oil major, Chevron Nigeria Limited over the recent recruitment of 12 Itsekiris out of the 36 Itsekiris invited for interview in the Vocational Training Programme 6, VTP6, describing the action as “an insult to the Itsekiri nation”.

The petition dated May 21, 2014 and addressed to Chevron General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, gave Chevron 21 days to call all 36 Itsekiri graduates that attended the interview to resume at the VTP6 programme in Ogere, Ogun State or be prepared to face “the biggest showdown with the Itsekiri graduates, youths, women and elderly across Warri Kingdom.

NAIG decried the situation where provision was not made for transportation, accommodation and feeding for those who attended the recent VTP6 recruitment exercise as “most inhuman, uncivilized and fall short of global best practice”.

The petition which was signed by NAIG President, Miss Alero Naomi Tenumah and its National Secretary, Comrade Okpeyeaghan Toju declared that “a situation where Itsekiri will be shortchanged to make others happy to the detriment of Itsekiri ethnic nationality” will no longer be tolerated. “The pattern of Chevron Nigeria Limited actions of robbing Peter to Paul will not be accepted by Itsekiri graduates worldwide” NAIG stressed.
