Group embarks on voluntary sanitation exercise in Bomadi

As part of youth obligation towards nation building, a voluntary youth organization known as Amatebe Youth Forum, AYF has embarked on voluntary sanitation exercise in Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi local government area, Our Bomadi Correspondentreports.

Members of the group opened up silt drainages and evacuated refuse at major streets of Bomadi, just as they carried out minor repairs on some collapsed drainages as well as channeling stagnated water into drainages.

Our Correspondent reports that the AYF which was floated in 2013 to promote public health has Ebikeme Senator as its President, Isiah Naitri-Vice President, John Dadugobo-Secretary and Sapele Tam-Spokesman. Others include David Kiokeme-Financial Secretary, Joseph Beke-Treasurer, Pipi Naitri-PRO and Toma Timipere, Women Leader.

President of AYC, Ebikeme Senator told newsmen in Bomadi that members of the group hold similar views about the environment with an obsession for public health safety. “Our similarities brought us together so that through contributions we can provide voluntary service in the area of public health. Our concern is to enhance public health safety in view of the numerous benefits we stand to enjoy as residents. The environment is our place of abode; therefore we must make it habitable,” he averred.

According to him, “the group’s objective is to change the perception of youths of this generation to have positive mindset towards our environment. We hope to be an example to other youth to take a leaf out of our concerns for the environment.  This will go a long way to engender the culture of good public health on the minds of the youths and will make them cultivate the habit of cleaning their compounds and surroundings at all times”.
