Kogi State House of Assembly has passed the 2021 budget estimate of one hundred and thirty billion naira (130billion) into law.
Recall that on December 1, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, presented a budget estimate of over one hundred and thirty billion Naira for 2021 to the State Assembly for passage.
The budget tagged ‘Budget of Accelerated Recovery’ is primarily aimed at economic recovery from the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic as it affects the Confluence State.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the passage of the bill followed the clause by clause consideration at the Committee on Supply of the whole House.
The Recurrent Expenditure has N74Billion, while Capital Expenditure will gulp N56 billion.
A further breakdown of the budget indicates that education sector has more than twenty one billion naira, Health; seventeen billion naira, with Agriculture having eight billion naira.
Others are; entrepreneurship and youth engagement; four billion naira, infrastructure; twenty one billion naira, human capital development; twenty one billion naira, while funding governance and other areas, including security has over twenty three billion naira and twelve billion naira respectively.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Budget Monitoring and Economic Planning, Aderonke Aro, while presenting the Committee’s report, said Ministries, Departments and Agencies with genuine reasons for adjustment, were taken care of in the budget.
