Chairman, Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN, Delta State Council, Comrade Jude Obiemenyego, says some personalities in the corridors of power, use community newspapers to fight their political opponents, urging publishers of community newspapers to discourage such selfish political interest.
Our Managing Editor reports that Comrade Obiemenyego made the allegation, Thursday November 11, during the grand finale of the 2021 ACNPN Media Week/Award ceremony held at Asaba, Delta State.
Obiemenyego said: "it is grossly unfortunate that some personalities that are in the corridors of power, ascended through the help of Community Newspapers, when they had no access to the national dailies".
The Chairman, stressed that the set of politicians, who rode to power through publicity of community newspapers, later prefer dealing with the National dailies for political and social businesses.
He maintained that community newspapers strive in the South-Western part of Nigeria compared to other parts of the country, because people in the South-West, know the importance of community Journalism.
