The serenity of Sapele in Delta State was on Saturday September 27 hit by tragedy when a middle aged man, Mr. Victor Ayomanor slumped during a fight with one Mr. Johnson Edjeba and died few hours later, in an undisclosed Church in the Ancient City of Sapele.
Fresh Angle gathered from a credible source that trouble started when an unidentified male and female ostensibly in the neighbourhood came to dump refuse at an undeveloped plot purportedly belonging to Mr. Johnson Edjeba during the period of the monthly Environmental Sanitation (Saturday September 27, 2014).
Mr. Edjeba whose home is close to his undeveloped land allegedly accosted the male and female who came to dump refuse in his land. According to Our Source, in the course of interrogating the trespassers, a neighbor of his, Victor Ayomanor intruded and queried why he was stopping the two trespassers from dumping refuse on the land.
A heated argument reportedly ensued between Mr. Johnson Edjeba and Mr. Victor Ayomanor. Our Source further claimed that as the argument raged between the duo that had no beef prior to the incident, Mr. Victor Ayomanor allegedly used a club (stick) to hit Mr. Johnson Edjeba, with both men engaging in combat.
Surprisingly though, it was Mr. Ayomanor who allegedly struck first that slumped and he was immediately rushed to Central Hospital, Sapele and thereafter taken to a Church in the neighbourhood few minutes on suspicion that the reason he slump may not be medical inclined.
It was while in the Church that Mr. Ayomanor eventually died same day. Our Source who prefers anonymity explained “I was driving along No. 3 Ulurhieri street off Atufe Road, sapele when I saw a large crowd armed with sticks and cutlasses, trooping into a compound and when I asked what was happening, I was told by a young lady that the owner of the compound fought with somebody that morning and the person he fought with slumped and was rushed to the hospital, discharged that same day to their Church where he died”.
He continued “from what I gathered from the young lady, it was members of Mr. Ayomanor’s family as well as his friends and wife that were seen destroying the glass windows of Mr. Edjeba with the intent to burn his house”.
Fresh Angle gathered that wife of Mr. Edjeba, her daughter in-law and four of her grand children were inside the house when the angry mob were destroying the house and mobilizing for fuel to raze down the building.
According to report, it was at that point the Police in Sapele was contacted and they immediately mobilize to the scene, rescued members of Mr. Edjeba’s household. Not perturbed by the Police action, the mob went ahead to raze down Mr. Edjeba’s house.
As at the time of filling this report, the accused, Mr. Johnson Edjeba was said to have reported himself to the Police at Asaba where he and his wife were detained pending the completion of investigation by the IPO of the homicide department.
