Delta government hands over N36m health centre to Warri South

A health centre built by Delta State Government in Orugbo Community, Warri South Local Government at the cost of N36million was today, October 20 handed over to authorities of Warri South Local Government.

Speaking shortly before the commissioning of the health centre, the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Otumara disclosed that there are 408 Health Centres in Delta State and the State Government is determined to ensure that all the Health Centres are fully functional.

Dr. Otumara commended the out-going Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye for equipping the newly Commissioned Health Centre at Orugbo, promising that immunization will be free in the Health Centre and the state government will assist the council in providing equipment necessary for full operation.

The Transition Committee Chairman, Dr. Augustine Uroye in an address described the Delta State Government as number one in the country in terms of health care delivery.

While commending the people of Orugbo Community for supporting the construction of the health centre which is the first in the community, Dr. Uroye expressed optimism that the state government through the office of the Commissioner of Health will upgrade facilities at the health centre.

Chairman of Orugbo Community Management Committee, Comrade Steve T. Ejejigbe in an address on behalf of the community commended the state government for building the health centre, noting that it will provide first aid to patients in Orugbo and its neighbouring communities as well as create pensionable employment for indigenes of Orugbo.

He appealed to the state government to provide suck-away pit, a generating set as well as perimeter fencing and interlocking of surroundings of the health centre.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the formal commissioning of the health centre by Dr. Joseph Otumara and assessment of its facilities.
