Three persons remanded in Benin Prison for attempted murder


Three persons have been remanded in prison custody on the orders of an Evbuoriaria Senior Magistrate Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State for alleged attempted murder related charges.

The accused persons: Stanley Ekhator, 34, Tosen Blackson, 30, and Samson Efe, 49, were alleged to have on 26th October 2014 at Obaretin Village, Sapele Road, Benin City conspired with others now at large to commit the offence thereby shooting their victim on the leg.

It was also alleged that the three accused persons attempted to murder one Lucky Uzamasogie with a girl, an offence contrary to Sections 326 and 320 (1) of the Criminal Code.

Their plea was however, not taken as the Presiding Senior Magistrate, Nogiomwan Edogu, declined jurisdiction over the matter and directed that their case file be duplicated and forwarded to the office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for legal advice which
will come up November 28, 2014.
