Guarantee Trust Bank, GTB, has issued a statement, saying it would stop accepting the current £20 and £50 polymer notes in any of its branches from January 1, 2022.

In an email sent to Fresh Angle International, Thursday November 18, the bank explained that the decision was a result of new £20 and £50 polymer notes that have been issued by the bank of England

The email stated: “As new £20 and £50 polymer notes have been issued by the bank of England, your paper note for these denomination, will be going out of circulation.

“You are hereby advised that from January 1st 2022, we will no longer be accepting £20 and £50 at any of our branches. These paper banknotes may be deposited by December 31, 2021”.
