The Kogi State Government, has reinstated its commitment to end gender based violence in the state.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the State Commissioner for Woman Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Fatima Kabir Buba, gave the assurance in Lokoja, during a road show organized to mark the 2021 day of Activism and Campaign against Gender Based Violence.
Buba, noted the government was determined to adequately protect women and the girl child, adding that anyone guilty of inflicting violence against women, will face the full wrath of the law.
The Commissioner, who embarked on the road show alongside Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, Civil Societies, Non- Governmental Organizations, such as Action Aid, PIBCID, FIDA, NAWOJ, Nigeria Girls Guide, Concerned Women Organization, thanked Governor Bello, “for giving women sense of belonging in the state”.
She added, that the Campaign against Gender Based Violence, was a continuous activity, hence the need for synergy between the government and relevant stakeholders, toward putting an end to the societal menace.
According to her, through government relentless efforts, a considerable reduction in violence against women, girls & persons, have been achieved in the state, since the present administration came into power in 2016.
